Ramadaan and lights off in Lenz
Slms and Hi to everyone. I trust that all my readers and dear friends are in the best of health. I've new readers in Ukraine & Vietnam and I am so excited that my posts are being read every week by new audiences in the US.
The blessed month of Ramadaan has departed so quickly. It has been a month of increased spirituality for all muslims and I personally enjoyed the amazing atmosphere. There were some really funny profile pictures that were up and it really made me smile.
"Petoo" is tummy in our local language and this contact just about sums up that her iftaar went well.
Yes and this picture was doing the rounds, combination of soccer and salaah!
Waking up for sehri hasn't been too easy with winter upon us. The mornings have been very cold esp in the inland areas. Some of us bounce out of bed and well, there are others that have to be dragged out of bed. But I say congrats to the following contact for waking up easy peasy:
Some of my working ladies had to really rush home and prepare in the evenings. Time is so limited but if you have someone @ home to help then life becomes easier. Some have to rely on the maids to keep an eye on the savouries:

Nothing is worse than waking up in the morning to prepare for the early morning meal ( sehri) and see that there's no lights! Us Durbanites didn't have a problem but my Gauteng counterparts had it really bad this year. I've been following profiles very carefully and there were numerous blackouts in Jhb and surrounds.
It's bad enough that its so bitterly cold but to re-think your eating menu this early in the morning is just so difficult.
And then there were power cuts in the evening and at night. Must have been very frustrating!
A few of my contacts loved having no lights! I'm serious! I was amused by their profile changes and yep, there's proof of the happiness of load-shedding/blackouts!
Quite a few of my contacts had this familiar Lion King picture up. Must have been really hard being a Lenasian this past month...
A contact replied to my previous post, I asked what was 'bread ous' n 'roti ous'. Thanks Naaz for your msg and clearing up the confusion:
The 2014 World Cup finished so quickly, it went by uber-quick. Germany were well deserved winners though I dare say that there were some surprise performances from South American countries, Mexico and Costa Rica. It was really a shock when Germany defeated Brazil in THAT semi, poor Scolari will always be remembered for that game.
Few of my contacts had the following pic up as their profile and I was sooo shocked!
This is a definite no-no and how can a musjid/mosque have on their notice board the soccer schedule ? Sadly it was in my home town, Durban. I hope the guilty party use their brains in future.
Next World Cup is Russia 2018 and I already have a dear facebook friend that's also a Russian citizen and is just waiting for 2018 to come!

World Cup and only in South Africa......
Good afternoon everyone and wow! It's been so long since I've last blogged. I can't believe how fast time has gone by, my last blog post was a month ago. I really miss being around and inter-acting with all my fans and great friends. I've gained new followers from Sweden and Moldova and I feel honoured that I have readers from Scandinavia.
In this past month, exciting things are happening! I'm busy with the launch of my magazine, La Vie and it's been a rollercoaster ride for me. Running RapidTrader Bbm Ads is exciting and just a wee bit stressful but starting and editing a mag is entirely a different league! The exciting part is when clients confirm their spaces and me being a writer, it was simply amazing doing some of the articles. Of course, I should say that no one can do a magazine entirely on their own and I've put together a very capable team. My joint partner Fathima and I have stayed awake many nights liasing and perfecting La Vie. It's been really enjoyable and I think when you love what you do, there is more enjoyment in it.
World Cup 2014!!!
I think the time difference is not so bad but some of the early am games are verrrry late for us South Africans... as my 1 dear contact Husna so aptly says so on her profile. Hun, whenever I need to know any score, you are one of the few contacts that I run to, to check it on your profile. #grins
Soccer fever is around and oh-so infectious! I've followed and seen some very creative display pictures like the ones above on my phones. I think I will skip the pics of Benzema for obvious reasons, ooh-la-la ....
It was quite shocking that Spain exited the first round, don't even mention England because they are an over-rated team. I say strong contenders this year are France, Germany, Brazil and Netherlands. Though don't be surprised if Argentina or Uruguay lands up somewhere in the semis. Aaaargh! I just can't stand Suarez and good riddance that biting maniac is banned from stadiums and all soccer for 4 months. My 2 weeks of soccer comes to and end because....

I'm soooo excited because nothing, and I mean nothing compares to the sweet serenity of Ramadaan. Those early morning sehri - where the kids jump out of bed so enthusiastically...... daytime spent in zikr and extra tilawat.....evening rush for iftaar and those blissful nights standing in Taraweeh. Ramadaan takes precedence over everything!
My contact Zakiyya so perfectly describes the mad people who will act like they never eat in days:
Continuing from last week, I've come across many sibling love on my bbm and even some of my contacts send me their screengrabs. Now isn't this too funny and cute?
To those who don't understand it, it means "thanks to the Almighty for brothers who have brains". Some of us can attest to this as we have brothers who are totally brainless and go through life making one mistake after the other no matter how much we advise them. Though not me, lol, my bro is quite clued up about everything... Occasionally I've got to tell him a few words. Omw! Some contacts are abit curious about me and my siblings. Well, I'm the eldest in the family, with 1 bro and 2 younger sisters. We are so close as siblings that I think that the last time we had an argument was probably when we were kids.
This next screengrab was definitely not my profile but see how daring he is to have this up. It's called being 'big brother' !!!
This next profile made me smile ear to ear and Waliyya, hun, I specifically asked you if I could save this. You mentioned to me that it's your bro and he sure is obliging to wear the T-shirt even though it took him 2 years to build up the courage not only to wear it BUT he actually allowed you to take a pic of him! Now he needs to walk around in Pavilion or Gateway and take a selfie then it might go up in my new posts to come!
How can she say that her sister killed her cat.... and then she says that it wasn't hers? The mind boggles! I won't even tackle the fact that.... a pet was killed! Yikes! In my young days, the most we would do is hide the remote control car or something equally precious. Hehe, those days there was no cellphones around!
But to go as far as to kill a cat???? Nooooooo further comment!

This a genuine advert placed on the advertising site Gumtree! Read the fine print and then you will realise how funny this is. Nevermind that the person wants to sell this KFC meal, they actually had the audacity to have "only one owner" as well. I wonder if anyone was silly enough to even buy this meal!
So yes it's winter and it's cold! Especially for my vaalies in Gauteng etc, its bitterly cold. So what happens if you really want to have a braai but it's too cold outside? Have a braai in your living room of course! Eish, these crazy vaalie contacts of mines but I love your'll nonetheless!
Sooo, enough poking fun at my Gauteng contacts, I came across this:

About 2 weeks ago, a contact of mine was highly upset because the maid stole some money from the house. Who wouldn't be angry? It is so important to be careful of who you allow in your homes and gardens. I really sympathised with her and then in the same week, I came across the following:
I practically burst out laughing at this profile. She probably stole your dictionaries and tutor books on English literacy as well! A serial thief on the loose that wants to get a degree in English while she is cleaning your home!
And yet again.... only in South Africa..... we have been experiencing load shedding, that dreaded power cut when you are right in the middle of something really important. What happens when there are water cuts?

Oh yes, this counts as another contradictory statement. If you call it a power nap, you are not supposed to wake up feeling sick! Power naps are supposed to make you feel energised and feeling great, not miserable! On the subject of sleep, maybe my contact above should try the following
We have a habit of saying 'lol'. It makes it easy for us to laugh in a chat. Some people add the zzzzz at the end and its funny how my contact so aptly describes the word 'lolzzzz'.
